Sorendipity

Now that Soren has reached the ripe old age of five months, it’s (long past) time to post more pictures. These last two months have been extremely eventful, and included visits to grandparents in Pennsylvania and Saskatchewan. We’ve taken hundreds of pictures, but we tried to restrain ourselves and post only a small sampling.

Soren is three months old today! We’ve taken lots of pictures during the last month, but we’ve been both too tired and too busy to post them. Here’s a selection for your viewing pleasure. Next week we’re heading off to North America for a couple of weeks so Soren can meet our families, and we’ll have more pictures after that.

I can’t believe it’s been four weeks since we posted any pictures. Or, rather, I can totally believe it because it’s all been a blur. Our bundle of joy hasn’t been sleeping much, and he’s been spending most of his waking AND sleeping hours making noise and keeping his parents awake. So we’re working on very few active brain cells, and every little task seems to be a huge chore.

However, I did finally take a few hours this morning to beautify this site a bit, pull in all the photos and videos formerly on MobileMe so that they’ll display inline, and fix up some background stuff so that we can upload pictures a lot more quickly and easily than before. With luck, that’ll encourage us to do so more often! Oh, and I made a subtle change to the site’s name .

Here’s how he’s been progressing for the last month:

In the past couple of weeks we’ve managed to have a number of visitors, which has been fantastic! But we’re very tired, and we’re finding it takes an enormous amount of time and effort to do even simple tasks like uploading photos. Here at long last is the latest batch:

We finally got home from the hospital on Monday evening. Since then, we’ve been recuperating, feeding, changing diapers, not sleeping—all the usual stuff—and unfortunately we’ve had very few moments when we were alert enough, and had enough free hands, to deal with photos. But I’ve finally managed to grab a few minutes, so in honor of Soren’s one-week birthday (they grow up so fast!), I’ve uploaded another small selection:

Clichéd though it may be, we were fortunate enough to have a view of the Eiffel Tower from our hospital room. I recorded a little movie to provide some perspective about where Soren was born:

OK, I made a wee mathematical error in my original post about Soren’s vital stats. His weight was indeed 4.02 kg, but I left out the zero when doing the conversion to pounds and ounces, so the correct number is 8 pounds, 13.44 ounces (not 9 pounds, 4 ounces as previously stated). But he’s still, as everyone at the hospital reminded us often, un gros bébé, a big baby!
